Using Interval Training For Faster Weight Loss

Interval training is an excellent way to boost your weight loss and rev up your metabolism. Follow the below workout to get started blasting your fat away.

More calories are burned during interval training than with most regular lower intensity workouts. Noticeable fitness results will be seen faster compared to those who perform steady intensity exercises.

Cardiovascular interval training has been proven to be one of the best methods for rapid fat loss and higher calorie burning.

Interval training for weight loss should be performed three to five times per week. A shorter but more intense workout will give you better results than a longer slow cardio workout will.

Begin with this thirty minute workout - it is based on a 3 to 1 ratio of three minutes of low intensity exercise followed by one minute of high intensity exercise. As you become stronger and want a more intense workout, you can increase it to a 3 to 2 ratio.

Interval Training Routine For Weight Loss

This routine can be performed with just about any exercise equipment (treadmill, stepper, stationary bike) - or walking, jogging and running

Warm up for five minutes.

For twenty minutes follow the below 3 to 1 ratio of interval training:

- Three minutes of low intensity exercise
- One minute of high intensity exercise

Cool down for five minutes.

If you are a beginner, you may want to start out walking at a regular pace for three minutes for your low intensity portion and then increase it to a brisk walk for one minute for your high intensity portion.

Increase Your Interval Training For Maximum Weight Loss

As your fitness levels increase, you can walk faster and include jogging as your high intensity exercise. Push yourself to the max during the high intensity part.

It makes it much easier if you use an interval timer. You program in the intervals and it lets you know when to start and stop the next interval. It keeps you from constantly looking at your watch.

You can perform interval training for fast weight loss with just about any exercise. Some of them include walking, jogging, treadmills, ellipticals, mini trampolines and stair climbers.

Mix it up for better body toning. Just follow the 3 to 1 ratio of intensity for the routine you are doing. Three minutes of low intensity - one minute of low intensity.

Cardio interval training is by far the quickest weight loss exercise that you can add to your exercise routine. It is a fast and fun way to achieve your weight loss goals and improve your overall health.

Hi Jon! I agree - we all seem to be short of time and this helps a lot.

Yip, Interval Training is great. The time saving factor is a great incentive to keep on track when life gets in the way.

And one way to ensure the time savign si at the max is to use the Tabata Method, which knocks the time down to 4 minutes! Tough though

I totally agree with everything you said in this hub. Right on!

Pamela99 - It is so easy to get out of the routine of exercising - but you do feel so much better when you do.

Putz - yes, interval training should give your workout a boost. Sometimes we just need to change up our workouts.
