Recipe Boxes - Best Deals On Recipe Boxes
By Patti Ann
Recipe boxes have been used for many years to store precious recipes handed down through generations. Everyone has favorite family recipes that they want to keep and pass down to their children.
A tradition in my family is to pass down to the children - both girls and boys - a new recipe box filled with all of the recipes that they grew up eating. It is a gift that will be treasured for a lifetime. If you would like to preserve your family’s recipes, this is a great way to do it.
Although many of us use the internet to find recipes, there is still a need for a recipe box. I usually print out the recipes that I want to try and if I like how they turned out and think I might cook them again, I put them in my recipe box.
You will find a large selection of different types of recipe boxes. Some are manufactured with wood - some with metal - some with acrylic.
Collecting vintage recipe boxes is a hobby that is very popular. There are so many unique and fun boxes that can be found at yard sales, flea markets and on eBay.
The vintage Betty Crocker and Campbell soup boxes are some of the most sought after. Most of the vintage boxes are metal and you can find a lot of them in really good condition. They look good in your kitchen and are a great conversation starter.
Of course Martha Stewart features some really nice recipe boxes. Hallmark also carries a nice selection of boxes.
Wood Recipe Boxes
Wood recipe boxes are a favorite of women all over the world. You can choose from several types of wood including bamboo, maple, oak, cherry and pine.
It looks great when you have a recipe box on your counter that matches your kitchen cabinets.
Most of the wooden boxes will hold regular sized index cards although you will occasionally find larger ones.
You can either buy index cards or there are also specially made recipe cards that fit in your box.
The recipe cards are fairly inexpensive and are much nicer to use when you are sharing recipes with friends or family.
There are also lots of wood vintage boxes on the market - eBay is a great place to find these. You will find a lot of great deals.
A wooden recipe box makes a terrific gift. Anyone would love to receive one as a gift.
Metal Recipe Boxes
The metal recipe boxes are popular today. Especially the stainless steel boxes. Since so many of us have stainless steel appliances in our kitchens, it is nice to have a matching recipe box.
You will find that most of the vintage boxes are metal - usually aluminum. You can find some really good deals on these vintage boxes on eBay. They are available with a wide variety of different designs.
Personalized recipe boxes make a fantastic gift. Most of these are wooden boxes that you can have personalized for a Christmas, wedding or birthday gift. They are a unique gift that will be sure to be enjoyed for many years.
As you can see, recipe boxes come in a variety of styles and materials. You will be sure to find the perfect box to fit in your kitchen.
