Adding a Gothic lamp can give your room a whole new look. Decorating with Gothic designs are very popular today. If you watch any of the home and garden television shows, you will see the Gothic theme featured quite often.

You don’t have to change your whole room to the Gothic decor, simply adding a lamp or other accessories is enough to make a difference.

The Gothic style goes back to the middles ages of the 1100s through the 1500s. It faded out and then emerged again in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Today many people think of the Gothic style that incorporates many of the underworld designs such as dragons or skulls, but this is not really the true Gothic style.

The true Gothic style was mostly influenced by the Catholic church. The Victorian Gothic style incorporates carvings of gargoyles that were used to protect buildings. It also included stained glass in the windows.

Gothic lamps can be found in a variety of these styles - from the modern dragon themes to the vintage wrought iron designs. Many of the darker colors are used - deep purple, red, black, dark green and gold.

The Gothic Table Lamp

The most popular gothic lamp is the table lamp. These can be added to just about any room in your home.

Choose the smaller lamps for your bedroom and the larger lamps for your living room or den. Many people are collecting the vintage gothic lamps and incorporating them into their homes decor.

The modern gothic lamps feature dragons or skulls. These are very popular with the younger crowd although many adults also love this look. Dragons have always presented a fascination to all of us and provide a whimsical look to the room.

A good portion of gothic table lamps are constructed with wrought iron for a vintage look that many designers are incorporating into their designs.

Some people even add a Gothic lamp to a modern room to present a different focal point that compliments the difference between the two design styles.

The Gothic Wall Lamp

Also very popular are the Gothic wall lamps. These lamps are often characterized by a vintage wrought iron candle look.

They can be added either outside by your doors or inside your home.

A hanging Gothic lamp is an excellent choice for a dining room.

These remind you of the look that you would find in an old castle.

They are used quite often these days to give a vintage look to the room.

Incorporating a Gothic lamp can really change the look of your entire room.

It’s always fun to play around with new accessories to create the style that defines your own taste.

Great lamps! I like gothic styling to be a bit subtle, but I have bits and pieces around my house. I guess you might call it "Goth Light"!
